I’ve Tried Everything for My Anxiety… So Why Does Nothing Seem to Work?

sarie taylor·Apr 13, 2026· 5 minutes

When You’ve Done All the Right Things… and You’re Still Struggling

If you’ve ever found yourself thinking:

“I’ve tried everything… so why am I still feeling like this?”

You’re not alone.

In fact, most of the people I speak to have already done a lot before they find this work.

They’ve read the books.
Listened to the podcasts.
Tried breathing techniques, journaling, mindfulness apps…

Maybe even therapy, courses, or different approaches that promised relief.

And some of those things might have helped, in moments.

Taken the edge off.
Given you a bit of space.

But then the anxiety comes back.

The overthinking returns.
The familiar feelings creep in again.

And it can leave you wondering…

What am I missing?

The Exhaustion of Trying to Fix Yourself

There’s a particular kind of tiredness that comes from this.

Not just physical exhaustion, but something deeper.

The kind that comes from constantly trying to manage your own mind.

Watching your thoughts.
Monitoring how you feel.
Trying to stay on top of it all so things don’t spiral.

It can start to feel like anxiety is something you have to keep on top of… forever.

Like if you stop doing the practices, stop “working on it”…
everything might fall apart again.

And that’s a heavy way to live.

Because it quietly reinforces the idea that something is wrong with you…
and it’s your job to keep fixing it.

What If Nothing Has Worked… Because Nothing Was Broken?

This is usually the point where something shifts in our conversations.

Because what if the reason nothing has “worked”…

isn’t because you haven’t found the right tool yet?

What if it’s because anxiety was never something that needed fixing in the first place?

I know that might sound strange.

Or even a bit frustrating to hear.

But stay with me for a moment.

Because this is where we move away from techniques…
and into something very different.

Introducing the Three Principles (Without the Jargon)

The Three Principles isn’t a method.

It’s not a set of steps to follow.
It’s not something you need to practise or get better at.

It’s simply an understanding of how our experience as human beings is created.

Mind
Thought
Consciousness

At its simplest, it points to this:

Everything you feel is coming from your thinking in the moment…
not directly from your circumstances.

Which means…

That anxious feeling?
It’s not coming from the situation itself.
It’s being created through the thoughts you’re having about it.

And because thoughts are constantly moving and changing…
your feelings are too.

Even if it doesn’t always look that way.

Why This Isn’t “Just Positive Thinking”

At this point, people often think:

“So I just need to think better thoughts?”

Not at all.

This isn’t about replacing negative thoughts with positive ones.
Or trying to control what shows up in your mind.

Because you’ve probably already tried that…
and seen how exhausting it can be.

This is about seeing something new.

Seeing that thoughts are temporary.
That they pass on their own.
That they don’t need managing in the way we’ve been taught.

And when that starts to land…

You naturally stop taking every thought so seriously.

Without effort.
Without forcing it.

The Missing Piece Most Approaches Don’t Talk About

Most anxiety tools focus on what to do when anxiety shows up.

And again, those things can help.

But they often keep the focus on the anxiety itself.

Managing it.
Reducing it.
Trying to stay in control of it.

What the Three Principles points to is something much simpler:

You don’t need to get rid of anxiety to feel okay.

Because underneath the noise of thinking…
there is already a steadiness there.

A kind of calm that doesn’t need creating.

It’s just that when your mind is busy, it gets covered up.

And when your mind settles - even a little - that calm naturally comes back into view.

Why This Changes More Than Just Anxiety

This is why people often say this understanding changes everything.

Because it’s not just about anxiety.

It’s about how you experience all of life.

Your relationships.
Your decisions.
Your sense of self.

When you’re no longer caught up in every thought that passes through…

There’s more space.

More clarity.
More ease.

And you start to trust yourself again in a way that feels very natural.

If You’re Tired of Trying So Hard

If you’ve been stuck in the cycle of trying to fix, manage, or control your anxiety…

I just want you to hear this:

You’re not doing it wrong.

You’re not broken.

And there isn’t a magical tool you’ve somehow missed.

What you might be missing… is a simpler understanding of what’s actually going on.

One that takes the pressure off.

One that doesn’t ask you to keep working on yourself.

Just something to see.

A Gentle Place to Start

If this resonates, I’ve created a free mini course that introduces this in a really simple, down-to-earth way.

No overwhelm.
No techniques to master.

Just a different way of looking at anxiety…
that might change how you experience it.
