Confidence & Success: Do They Go Hand In Hand?

confidence and success

Exploring The Three Principles with Sarie Taylor

I often hear people talking about how confident people are usually successful and in all honesty I remember feeling myself that I had to be confident in order to do well in life.

It was like my suit of armour, I always appeared confident, even when I didn’t feel it - I felt I had to.

Now I see it so very differently:

My vulnerability is my absolute strength and also what enables me to connect so deeply with others.

What does confidence even mean? Well the dictionary definition is;

‘the feeling or belief that one can have faith in or rely on someone or something’

We choose what we believe to be true.

Just because we simply have a thought doesn’t make it truth and we can actually choose to not believe any of our thoughts!

What we are really talking about is belief due to thoughts we have had about ourselves, or someone else, so much so that we start to see it as fact.

Why would we choose to believe thoughts that do not serve us or stop us from living life the way we want?

We would choose this because we innocently misunderstand the true nature of thought.

We misunderstand that we are always in the feeling of our thoughts.

“Thought is not reality; yet it is through Thought that our realities are created.” Sydney Banks

Success is an illusionary created idea that we measure ourselves against, again we choose what that looks like.

It comes form our expectations (again thought created) and whether we feel we are enough.

This has nothing to do with confidence and everything to do with being human.

The more we see we are enough, regardless of what our circumstances are, how much money we have in the bank, what job we had and so on, we will no longer be searching and more likely ‘being’ and in our lives.

That's where the magic happens.

So how do we know if we are truly confident or not?

We see that there is no such thing as a confident or not confident person, only the story they tell themselves which is creating feelings that then lead to behaviours that would make someone appear to be ‘not confident’.

Consider areas of your own life and where you would describe yourself as confident and then times you wouldn’t and reflect on... what's the difference?

Are we overcomplicating mental health?

The continuous spiral of talking about mental illness and neglecting to discuss mental health that’s within us all!

Finding herself in a mental hospital for a month aged 22, her worst fears of going crazy had come true! Sarie truly believed she was broken for many years, and now sees that this was in part due to massively over complicating what it meant be a human being. After a long period of exploring and training as a psychotherapist, still burning out every 18 months for another ten years, Sarie finally found the answer, and now shares the surprising simplicity of it all to help others get the same relief.

Sarie has trained as a transactional analysis psychotherapist, as well as working and training in many other therapeutic disciplines, such as NLP, CBT, DBT and hypnotherapy. Sarie is also an author, celebrity coach and therapist, working with thousands of people a year, of all ages, all over the world. Her main aim is to help them really see the simplicity and beauty behind human nature, getting out of their heads and into their lives, being able to see that the inside out nature of life really is a gift. This removes limitations and stories they may hold about themselves, and as a result finding an ease and contentment in life they often never knew was possible.
